It is a detailed overview of what You Legal will look like, feel like and act like three years out – by 31 December 2020. Sharing it with others helps it become a reality. Here at You Legal we have always been very open about chasing big dreams, so we’re fired up to share this with you-- this is our vision for what You Legal will look like in 2020. We are planning for some big growth, and by being completely open and sharing what we see the firm look like in three years’ time, we hope you’ll help us get there. Vision - 2020
The year is 2020 and we’re flying. Our team members are passionate and hardworking, we are all 150% committed. Top lawyers are leaving traditional law firms to come and work for us because we can offer them something that no other law firm in the world can offer – the ability to earn partner-level salaries with no politics or client or billable targets – and something that is valued the world over - flexibility. We are a highly efficient, large national business with a stable team of excellent top-tier practitioners and amazing clients, we have maintained our competitive position through our lean, agile structure which means we are well-placed to take advantage of any opportunity for growth or partnership that arises. We continue to operate with no debt because of our receivables position (we get paid before we perform our service), and we have created processes that realise further operational efficiencies through consolidation and exponentially increased our sales. We are an organisation that top-tier lawyers want to work for and as a result, we have an in-coming contractor list of tested value-matched lawyers that want to work and we want them to work with us. We focus on what’s important to achieve our strategic objectives and goals, and we foster engagement and teamwork across the firm.

Our client base is diverse, loyal and growing. Our clients rate our service as excellent when we ask for their feedback every month, and our responsiveness is seen by clients as our great strength. Our communications are polite, commercial, efficient and accurate. Our retainer letters and invoices are always sent quickly and always correct. We listen to our clients. Our clients feel valued by each member of our firm and they keep coming back. Our operational staff understand that they have clients whether they are internal or external and service is important to the entire team.
People / Culture
Our team members are our competitive advantage and we never forget that! Building and keeping the right team is everything to us at You Legal. We hire only the best, and we’re quick to make a change when someone isn’t the right fit. We treat our hiring process with the same precision that we practise the law, training You Legal team members with the tools they need for success. Our team members all embrace our core values, and we have very little turnover- just enough to make sure we keep the right team in place. We have an engaged, enthusiastic and focused team aligned with our firm’s values and goals. We celebrate our success and we see opportunity when things do not go our way. We are accountable for our roles. Open communication is essential and all team members’ contributions are valuable, so we regularly ask for them. Technical
Our technical expertise is a strength, the market is aware that we use highly experienced top tier lawyers to bring our clients advice at a speed and accuracy which remains impossible in a traditional firm. We are aware of the latest legal technologies and invest in infrastructure which serves the needs of our clients and our team. We are highly regarded in the market and there are law and accounting firms from around Australia that regularly refer their clients to work with us. Our clients remain loyal because our technical knowledge and commercial advice add value to their business.
Sales
Our sales team are organised, focused, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Our sales calls add value to our client’s businesses and they appreciate that. We prepare for sales calls and presentations and this gives us confidence. We look for opportunities and we hunt them down. We go the extra mile to win key clients. An effective customer relationship management system is now in place and is updated daily by our sales team. We communicate with each other regularly and help each other with opportunities. We provide excellent feedback, market intelligence and sales forecasts. We have added new fixed-price products that are significant contributors to turnover and have a large share of revenue coming from new international clients.
Procedures
The firm has clear and transparent procedures and processes, which help us consistently meet our client’s expectations and always deliver on our promises. Our business systems are our strength. They deliver repeatable quality, client satisfaction and financial accuracy. Our systems are practical and efficient. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our systems. This is every team member’s role. We only have systems that benefit the business and are practical. Procedures that don’t add value are not continued.
Community & Service
All You Legal team members are inspired by serving. The firm is dedicated to serving its team members, clients, vendors and community. We commit to a not-for-profit or charity every year, that matches our values and we support that organisation by a percentage of sales of new You Legal products. Giving back matters at You Legal, and we thrive on the opportunity to be part of building something special.
The Future
It’s 2020 and the You Legal vibe is stronger than ever, and our team members, clients and suppliers see and feel it every day. It’s exactly what makes You Legal such a dynamic company— both to work for and to do business with. This is how we see the firm three years in the future. We hope you can see it too! There is a gap from where we are now to where we want to be. The job for us now is to get there, we have already started on this process and we will continue by setting goals and planning to achieve each goal, we will use our goal setting and meeting rhythm to work towards our vision.
