Frequently Asked Questions

If you are considering engaging You Legal to prepare a Telehealth Policy, here’s what you need to know:

What is a Telehealth Policy?

Telehealth services allow the practice to consult a patient by phone or a video call. A Telehealth policy is essentially to provide quality assurance for both the Patient and the Practitioner.

A Telehealth policy includes checklists, a consultation request form, a screening questionnaire and a competency form to ensure the practice is protected.

What is Included in the Document?

A Telehealth Policy outlines the way in which Practitioners should conduct Telehealth Consultations, as well as the responsibilities of both the Practice and Practitioner regarding Telehealth and patients. It also includes what should be considered when deciding whether a patient is suitable for telehealth (i.e. looking at their individual health needs and requirements).

Why Should I have a Telehealth Policy?

Whether you are seeing your patients in person or via a telehealth consult, the same obligations of reasonable care and skill in providing health services apply. There are many necessary considerations regarding practice and risk management, occupational health and safety, Medicare, privacy, equipment and technology, and much more when conducting Telehealth consultations - having a sound Telehealth Policy is an effective way of addressing these.

How Could this Document Benefit me as a Practice Owner?

It is recommended that the policy is provided to all employees and the Telehealth Consultation Request form (also included) to Practitioners. The forms and checklists are a useful way of aiming to promote a quality telehealth experience for both the Patient and the Practitioner, in addition to maintaining the continuum of care.

Can I Customise the Document to Suit my Needs?

Yes, the Telehealth Policy can and should be customised to suit the specific needs and requirements of your organisation. The policy should reflect your organisation’s size, structure, and activities, as well as its goals and objectives. By customising the policy to suit your organisation’s needs, you can ensure that it is practical, effective, and relevant to your organisation’s specific context.

What is Included in the Cost of this Fast Track Solution?

The above price is inclusive of a finalised Policy, including checklists, a consultation request form, a screening questionnaire and a competency form, and the process of getting there. From providing us with the information to making sure you understand it and making the changes you request, to getting your finalised policy.

For more details on the exact process and what’s included, see the ‘Once you purchase this Policy’  section above.
